Egidio Bonfante

Born 1922,Treviso
Although originally a figul-ative watercolorist, in the early 1950's, Bonfante'.s imagery changed to architectural subjects presented in a loose, cubist style, from which he earned many important mural commissions for both corporate and civic projects throughout Italy. Now known tot his architectural imagery of a very ditEerent style, Bonfante's work was being included in numerous regional and intel-llational group exhibitions which included other contemporaries of his such as Loran Music, Arnoldo Pomodoro, Valerio Adami, Enllio Morlotti and many others. At this time, an art critic referred to his work as "geometric fantasies'', a reference that is still very apt today.
Bonfante next became an accomplished designer, completing major trade pavilion designs from Moscow to Condole. His artistic vision also changed, whereby he became very interested in mixed media and printing on paper. In 1984, his work traveled to such major museums as National Gallery of the Grand Palace, Paris; the British Museum, London; Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC; the Art Institute of Chicago, and many other museums of similar reputation.
