Giorgio Giuseppini
Born 1941, Massa
Giuseppinni's
paintings are frescos on paper. Just as Roman artisans did 2000 years
ago, Giuseppini mixes a thin plaster which is then applied to his paper
backing. On this paper, he will add color and sometimes found objects,
changing the fresco into a true mixed media work. After the fresco dries,
he then comes back and applies paint to accentuate and finish his final
image. But unlike the fresco commonly found in Roman ruins, Giuseppini's
fresco are largely abstract, yet often containing references to regions
of Italy he has visited.
